All of these titles on the PC came with toolsets/editors that allowed you to create your own levels, characters, maps, items, and then share them and play them. The first games that come to mind are Morrowind, Oblivion and Starcraft.
That would mean they couldn't overcharge players for tiny little updates that more often than not, should have come with the original shipped game. One of the best parts of PC games and one thing that the consoles may never be able to fully utilize is complete customization and the ability to create and share additional content for games.
